To the Editor:

Two Saturday's ago, the Knox Greens put on another in a series of
monthly dances at Northport's Blue Goose. For those who came to
see Felix Brown play, our apologies as they cancelled at the
(very) last minute. Fourtunately, a group of warm and talented
local musicians, Willy Kelly and Friends, stepped in and gave
everyone a fantastic show. We just wanted to say a few words of
thanks to:

Everyone who came to dance, dance, dance and then dance some
more. It's wonderful to see so many people engaged in the pure
and simple act of having a great time! It's been an honor for the
local Greens to provide this kind of opportunity to the Midcoast
Community.

All the volunteers who've worked so hard to make these shows a
success. (We hope that you, too, are enjoying the ride.)

Willy Kelly and Friends - that's Willy Kelly, Greg McGowan,
Glenn Dubois, Jeff Dinsmore and Mike Whitehead. As good neighbors
do, on short notice they came through for their community,
playing just magnificently this last dance.

Everyone who becomes politically and socially engaged while at a
"Goose Goes Green" Dance. Politics and community action really is
fun - even joyful- and affiming. Attendees prove this monthly by
involving themselves in issues as well as in the rhythms of the
bands. In our opinion, there's simply no reason why one cannot,
say, discuss economic alternatives to FTAA-style onslaughts of
corporate globization AND have a great time.

The Reading Corner in Rockland and Wild Rufus Records in Camden
for their support, the Knox County Sheriff's department for
security, WERU, this newspaper, and other media for helping
spread the word, and numerous local shop windows for allowing us
to display our posters.

The Knox Greens are an area affiliate of the Maine Green
Independent Party. We'll continue these monthly chem-free,
all-ages events at the Goose as long as the community wants a
place where it can have a good time out, become involved with
neighbors and planet, and - who knows - maybe even start changing
the world for the better. Our next dance is on May 26th featuring
a hot Maine-based group, the Blue Flames. Thanks again and come
find your Groove with the Greens.
