MINUTES OF THE KNOX GREENS GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING

FEB 22, 2001

ROCKLAND REC CENTER

Mike Ray called the meeting to order at 6:50 pm. 15 people were

present

Will Neils facilitated the meeting

______________ suggested that we have a table at the Toy Library

Pizza Party on Sun. March 18. She will organize that for us.

Mark Elwin discussed the Knox Green Project, which the dance

series is part of, aimed at gaining visibility for the Greens and

to provide outreach for membership

Greening of the Goose - Mike Ray said there's approximately $650

in the bank account. After a resounding success with Johnny Hoy,

we lost over $300 with Big Chief due to lower turnout. He said

people interested in discussing how to get more people to attend

would meet after the General Membership Meeting at a local

restaurant.

Phone Outreach - Mike will organize a phone tree to call

registered Greens prior to our meetings and events, with Talking

Points. Upcoming points: Free Trade Area of the Americas

protest/teach-in; Blue Goose dances

Next Meeting: Maine Youth Campfire Collective will give a

presentation regarding the FTAA meeting in Quebec

Bylaws: the Sample By-Laws of the Knox Greens was drafted by

Mike Ray and presented for a vote. Pre-voting on each article

results:

Article I - passed

Article II - passed with rewording to read: "...and to translate

its Platform and the Ten Key Values into political actions and

public policies."

Article II was revisited with a concern about the wording of the

Ten Key Values (Article VII) Herb Hoche suggested having a

committee study both the State and the National versions and come

up with a stronger statement. It was agreed.

Article III - there was discussion on whether we should define

the counties from which our membership will come, or if the

wording should remain. It was agreed to have a committee study it

further

Article IV - there was discussion on what consensus means, and

whether it's contradictory to make decisions by consensus AND 2/3

vote, or whether it should be one or the other. It was agreed to

study the issue further.

Mike Ray wants comments from everyone regarding the bylaws TWO

WEEKS BEFORE the next meeting.

Todd___________________agreed to be the facilitator at the March
